The Red Scissor Blade is an anti-Life Fiber weapon shaped like half of a pair of scissors. It is the chosen weapon of Ryuko Matoi.
Overview[]
Life Fibers are particularly resilient little creatures, capable of regenerating from nearly any wound. A brilliant scientist figured out that the only things that could cut Life Fibers were other Life Fibers, and the only way to make sure the damage was permanent was to cut from both sides of the Fiber at once. The answer to solving both of those problems was the Rending Scissors, a giant weapon shaped like a pair of scissors. Shortly after it was completed, the weapon was split into two halves, one Red and one Blue. Ryuko came into possession of the Red half, and became incredibly proficient in wielding it like a sword.

The Red Scissor Blade is a large, heavy, and unusually shaped weapon, so Ryuko is probably one of the few people that could ever wield it effectively. However, it's more than just a scissor-shaped sword. The shapeshifting powers of Life Fibers give it the ability to change its size and shape, to a variety of effects. The weapon can shrink into a normally-sized half of a scissor, or can expand to twice its length in Decapitation Mode. Some say it might be able to get even bigger, but what in the world would Ryuko even use a weapon that large on?
